How an Overhead Garage Storage Lift Works

From first look at your joists to a platform that lowers with a drill — here’s the simple path we use for Upstate SC homes.

The product idea

Garage ceiling storage without living on a ladder

A CeilingSAM Storage Elevator mounts to ceiling framing. You connect a cordless drill to the drive (with the matching drill rod for your ceiling height), lower the platform, load totes or gear at a comfortable height, then raise it back toward the ceiling.

  • Drill-powered — not a built-in electric motor
  • No lift motor wiring for the Storage Elevator itself
  • Must fasten into solid joists / framing per manufacturer instructions
  • Manufacturer Limited Lifetime Warranty remains with CeilingSAM (see their terms)

Our install process

From quote to finished overhead storage

Quick site check

We confirm ceiling height, open footprint, door-track clearance, and joist direction. Send photos or schedule a look — Greenville, Spartanburg, Duncan, and nearby.

Right-size the system

Choose 4×4, 4×6, 4×8, Pro, Pro RV, Tote Slide Pro, and/or Wall Shelf based on what you store (holiday decor totes, camping gear, tools).

Install day (~1–2 hours)

We mount the system into framing, check travel/clearances, and walk you through raise/lower with the drill. Typical Storage Elevator install time is about 1–2 hours once the site is ready.

Permit and electrical notes: Storage Elevators are drill-powered. If a different product or future accessory ever needed new wiring, that work would be handled separately under the correct trade rules — we plan installs to stay within safe, legal scope.
